Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Tater Tots

  • 1 lb Frozen Meatballs (Beef or Turkey)
  • 4 Cups Frozen Tater Tots

Vegetables and Cheese

  • 1 Cup Mixed Vegetables (like peas and carrots)
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheese (Cheddar or Mozzarella)

Seasonings and Oils

  • 1 Packet Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • Olive Oil or Cooking Spray (for coating the foil)
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Grill or Oven: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even and efficient cooking of the foil packets.
  2. Cut and Prepare Foil: Cut large pieces (about 12×18 inches) of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Lightly coat the center of each piece with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Combine Ingredients in a Bowl: In a large bowl, mix the frozen meatballs, tater tots, mixed vegetables, ranch seasoning, and salt and pepper. Toss gently until well combined and evenly coated with seasoning.
  4. Divide Mixture and Add Cheese: Portion the mixture evenly onto the prepared foil pieces. Sprinkle about ¼ cup of shredded cheese over each portion.
  5. Fold and Seal Packets Securely: Fold the foil sides over the mixture and seal tightly by folding the edges multiple times, creating a sealed pouch to trap steam during cooking.
  6. Cook on Grill or Bake in Oven: Place the foil packets on the grill or a baking sheet in the oven. Cook for 25-30 minutes, until meatballs are heated through and cheese is melted. Optionally, open the packets carefully during the last 5-10 minutes for crispier edges.
  7. Carefully Open and Enjoy: Remove packets with tongs or mitts. Open away from your face to avoid steam burns. Serve immediately and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Frozen meatballs should be solid when assembling packets for even cooking.
  • You can substitute mixed vegetables with any quick-cooking vegetables like corn or green beans.
  • Partially baking or air frying tater tots beforehand yields crispier texture but is optional.
  • Adjust salt carefully since ranch seasoning mix contains salt.
  • For a spicier option, use pepper jack cheese or add a dash of paprika to the seasoning.
  • If using fresh vegetables, dice small or precook slightly to ensure even cooking.
