Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Vegetables

  • 1 lb. NY strip steak, sliced
  • ½ red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ green bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ onion, sliced

Seasoning and Cheese

  • 2 tsp. fajita seasoning
  • 1 cup taco blend shredded cheese
  • Tin foil (for wrapping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the foil packets.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the sliced steak, red and green bell peppers, and onion. Sprinkle the fajita seasoning evenly over the mixture.
  3. Mix Well: Thoroughly toss the steak and vegetables with the fajita seasoning until all pieces are evenly coated for balanced flavor.
  4. Prepare Foil Packets: Lay out two long sheets of tin foil on a flat work surface. Divide the steak and vegetable mixture evenly onto each sheet.
  5. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the shredded taco blend cheese evenly over the top of each mixture on the foil sheets.
  6. Seal Packets: Fold the long edges of each foil sheet up and over the filling, then fold the top edge over securely. Roll the remaining sides inward to create a sealed foil packet that will trap steam.
  7. Bake: Place the sealed foil packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired level of doneness and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute the NY strip steak with skirt or flank steak for a similar texture and flavor.
  • Adjust fajita seasoning to taste, adding more if you like it spicier.
  • For a lower-fat option, reduce cheese or use a low-fat cheese blend.
  • Serve with warm tortillas, guacamole, or salsa for a complete fajita experience.
  • Cooking time can vary depending on steak thickness; check doneness by carefully opening a packet.
