A hearty and flavorful one-pan meal combining savory garlic butter ground beef and fluffy long-grain white rice, all coated in a luscious cheddar and parmesan cheese sauce with a spicy Cajun kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Rice Mixture

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice (uncooked)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Cheese Sauce

  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and fully cooked. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: Push the beef to one side of the skillet. Add the minced garlic to the empty space and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  3. Add Spices: Sprinkle in the onion powder and Cajun seasoning, stirring thoroughly to coat the beef evenly with the spices and garlic.
  4. Add Rice and Broth: Pour in the uncooked rice and beef broth. Stir well to combine everything and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Add Cheese Sauce: Remove the skillet from heat. Fold in the grated parmesan and shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until the sauce is thick, creamy, and all the cheese has melted.
  7. Adjust Seasonings and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with extra salt, pepper, or Cajun seasoning if desired. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra cheese or chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor, but garlic powder can be substituted if needed.
  • If you prefer a milder dish, reduce or omit the Cajun seasoning.
  • For a creamier texture, add a splash of heavy cream or milk when adding the cheese.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
  • Gluten free as long as the Cajun seasoning is gluten free and beef broth contains no gluten additives.
