Buffalo Chicken Dip is a crowd-pleasing appetizer that combines tender chunk chicken with spicy hot pepper sauce, creamy cream cheese, and zesty ranch dressing, all topped with melted Cheddar cheese. Served warm and bubbly from the slow cooker, it’s perfect for parties, game days, or casual get-togethers, paired delightfully with crisp celery sticks and chicken-flavored crackers.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 (10 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained
  • ¾ cup hot pepper sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese

For Serving

  • 1 bunch celery, cut into 4-inch pieces
  • 1 (8 ounce) box chicken-flavored crackers

Instructions

  1. Gather Ingredients: Collect all the ingredients and prep the celery by cutting into 4-inch sticks to have everything ready before cooking.
  2. Heat Chicken and Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, combine the drained chunk chicken and hot pepper sauce. Stir and heat until thoroughly warmed, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add Cream Cheese and Ranch: Stir in the softened cream cheese and ranch dressing into the chicken mixture. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture is smooth, well blended, and warmed through, approximately another 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Mix in Cheese and Transfer: Stir in half of the shredded Cheddar cheese and then transfer the entire mixture to a slow cooker or an oven-safe dish.
  5. Top with Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded Cheddar cheese evenly on top of the mixture to create a cheesy crust when melted.
  6. Cook Until Hot and Bubbly: Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for about 35 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly throughout.
  7. Serve: Serve the Buffalo Chicken Dip warm with celery sticks and chicken-flavored crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken as a substitute for canned chicken for a fresher texture.
  • Adjust the amount of hot pepper sauce to control the spiciness according to your preference.
  • For a thicker dip, reduce the ranch dressing slightly.
  • This dip can also be baked in a preheated oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days; reheat gently before serving.
